Benjamin Mendy, a former defender with the Manchester City, has sued the club over unpaid wages.
Recall that Mendy was accused of raping a 24-year-old woman in a bedroom at his home in Cheshire in October 2020. The defender was charged with the attempted rape of a 29-year-old woman at his home two years earlier.
The charges saw City stop paying his £100,000-a-week wages in September 2021.
In July, Mendy was cleared of all charges after he was found not guilty of rape and attempted rape.
The Frenchman has now set a “multi-million-pound claim” against City for wages owed.
It was learnt that he lodged his claim with the Employment Tribunal in recent days, with Mendy claiming ‘unauthorised deductions from wages’ while his trial was ongoing.
