Bayern’s quest to doom began in the 36th minute when Dayot Upamecano brought down a Bochum player in the penalty box. Jurgen Locadia stepped up to put the home team in the lead.

Unfortunately, Bayern’s dominance could not save them from conceding another goal. Taking their chances, Bochum’s Cristian Gamboa played a neat 1-2 with Patrick Osterhage and doubled Bochum’s lead within 40 minutes of play.

With just one minute left before halftime, Bochum was again utilized their chance as Gerrit Holtmann pulled a screamer from outside the box to make it 4-1 for the home team.

Having slaughtered the Bundesliga giants right before halftime, Bochum went on the defensive all through the second-half. They denied Bayern chances upon chances. Eventually, Bochum were forced to concede after Lewandowski found the net once again in the 75th minutes to reduce the tally.

However, the defeat had little effect on Bayern’s standing in the Bundesliga table. They are nine points ahead of second-placed Borussia Dortmund.
