Bay FC have confirmed the departure of Nigerian striker Asisat Oshoala, who has completed a move to Saudi Women’s Premier League side Al Hilal SC.

In a statement, Bay FC announced: “Bay FC and Saudi Arabia club Al Hilal have agreed to terms on a transfer for Asisat Oshoala. Thank you for everything you’ve given to this club.”

Oshoala, has signed a two-year contract with Al Hilal after undergoing medical examinations in Riyadh earlier this week. The deal ends her brief but eventful spell in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), where she made history as Bay FC’s first-ever goal scorer during the club’s inaugural season in 2024.

The six-time African Women’s Footballer of the Year enjoyed a strong debut campaign, finishing as Bay FC’s top scorer with seven goals. However, her influence waned in the 2025 season, where she managed just 458 minutes across 12 matches without finding the net. Oshoala also hinted at personal struggles off the pitch, admitting she had not fully enjoyed her second NWSL season and was considering seeking professional support.

Her move to Al Hilal reunites her with fellow Nigerians Ashleigh Plumptre and Francisca Ordega, strengthening the Saudi club’s ambition to dominate women’s football in the Middle East.

Oshoala leaves Bay FC as one of the most decorated African players of her generation. Before joining the NWSL, she enjoyed a trophy laden spell at FC Barcelona Femeni, where she won multiple league titles and two UEFA Women’s Champions League crowns.

For the Super Falcons of Nigeria, she remains a talisman, with a track record that includes appearances at multiple FIFA Women’s World Cups and victories at the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations.

With this move, Oshoala becomes one of the highest profile African footballers to join the Saudi Women’s Premier League, marking another chapter in her illustrious career.
