FC Barcelona have announced the signing of SK Rapid Vienna winger, Yusuf Demir for their B side on loan with an option to buy.
The Spanish club disclosed this in a statement via their website on Friday evening.
“FC Barcelona and SK Rapid Vienna have reached an agreement on the loan of Yusuf Demir for the 2021/22 season.
“Barça is paying 500,000 euros for the operation and holds a non-mandatory option to purchase for 10 million,” the statement partly read.
Describing his abilities, the Blaugrana said: “Demir is a top quality left-footer who can play all across the attack, mainly on the wing or in the middle. He may be young but he already has experience of playing at the highest level and knows how to score goals.”
The 18-year-old, dubbed the ‘Austrian Messi’ for his style of play and stature, broke into the Rapid senior team at a young age, earning a fine reputation at home with six goals in 31 games in his two-season stint.
Demir, a huge Messi fan, expects to play alongside the Argentina international at Camp Nou if he signs a new contract.
