In a bid to retain their lost glory, Barcelona are keen on recalling their former defender, Dani Alves, back to Camp Nou.
The right-back was part of Barcelona’s undisputable squad under Pep Guardiola. He enjoyed an illustrious career with the Bulgrana, scooping 43 trophies, 21 goals, and 101 assists during his 391 games in Barcelona shirt.
After leaving the Catalan club in 2016, the 38-year old Brazilian enjoyed brief stints at Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain before heading back to Brazil to play for boyhood club, Sao Paulo.
Like every other player of his era, Alves’ departure from Camp Nou left a big void and boot to be filled which over the years had been short of successor. Though current right-back, Sergino Dest had amassed some convincing display and pitched as a potential successor, but the USMNT International is yet to attain the height of Dani Alves.
Having appointed former teammate, Xavi, as new Barcelona coach, Dani Alves return will not be a problem for Barcelona. The Brazilian is currently a free agent after terminating his contract with Sao Paulo in September.
According to the hardtackle news platform, Alves’ had already made his feelings about rejoining Barcelona known, insisting that all Barcelona need to do is to call and he will return to Camp Nou.
Although Barcelona did not intend to re-sign their former defender, but Xavi’s involvement had seen Barcelona now weighing up the possibility of bringing Dani Alves back to the club.
In a similar development, Real Madrid star, Eden Hazard, is also weighing up a likely return to Chelsea. After enduring an injury plagued stint with Real Madrid, the out of favor Belgian is likely to return to the Stamford Bridge. Real Madrid’s coach, Carlos Ancelloti, plans to trim his star-studded side during the January transfer window. Thus, Hazard and some other players are likely to be shown the exit door.
