The deadly wave of armed banditry has reached Kaduna, as three local government areas in the state, Giwa, Chikun and Igabi, were attacked by criminal elements, killing no fewer than 18 people.
The unfortunate incident, which occurred on Wednesday, was confirmed by the Kaduna state, commissioner for internal security and home affairs, Samuel Aruwan.
In addition to details of the attack, the commissioner provided names of the victims across the three affected LGAs.
The bandits reportedly attacked Anaba village in Igabi local government area, causing seven fatalities. Several houses were also burnt during the operation.
The victims’ names, according to the commissioner, are:
1. Ali Musa
2. Isa Sharehu
3. Tijjani Isa
4. Auwalu Shehu
5. Hashim Abdullahi
6. Hassan Saidu
7. Umar Rilwanu.
In Chikun local government, Barinje village was the bandits’ target, killing eight persons in the process. Below are their names;
1. Sunday Gwamna
2. Lawal Jizo
3. Salha Barau
4. Sabo Barau
5. Umaru Barau
6. Muhammadu Dan Azumi
7. Zailani Dogara
8. Jikan Gambo
Also, the bandits whisked away some residents of the village rustled cattle during the attack. Many people who sustained injuries during the attack are currently being treated in hospitals.
The commissioner added that an unnamed person was killed by unknown assailants in Chikun LGA.
The bandits attacked Kwarten Rigasa and other neighbouring villages in Igabi local government area, reportedly killing two people in the process.

2. Yakubu Abdullahi
Aruwan stated that the latest onslaughts at the affected local governments followed the killing of several armed bandits through targeted air operations, in what may be considered revenge attacks.
The commissioner added that many bandits had earlier been neutralised by security agents while many of them escaped with bullet wounds.
Meanwhile, Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has expressed sadness over the attacks and sent his condolences to the families of all the victims.
