It was a night for Welsh international, Gareth Bale as his two sensational shots helped his side, Real Madrid seal it’s 3rd Champions League trophy in a row.

The final match started with English side, Liverpool creating chances thereby putting it’s opponent in the edge for the first 20mins of play. The game was however changed when star player, Mohammed Sallah suffered a shoulder injury, he voluntarily left the pitch in tears.

His premature exit changed the tempo of the match as Madrid started creating chances but all were subdued as the goal line remained same till end of first half.

The second half began with high hopes for the Spanish giant as its striker, Karim Benzema found the back of the net in the 51st minute, but the victory was cut short by an equaliser from Sadio Mane four minutes later.

Madrid substitute, Bale came from the bench and changed the fortunes for his side as he was on time to catch up with a cross from teammate, Marcelo, which he converted to a goal with a flip, similar to kick by Cristiano Ronaldo against Juventus in the quarter finals.

With 7mins left in the open play, a super strike by Bale from outside the box caught Liverpool’s goalie unaware as he pushed the ball into the back of the net. The goal secured the trophy for Real Madrid and shattered the hopes of Liverpool of clinching the trophy it last won in 2005.

History was then made as Real Madrid emerged the winner of 2018 Champions League, 3 in a row and 13 in total. Zenedi Zidane also joined the likes of Bob Praisely and Carlo Ancelloti to become Managers to have won the trophy 3times. Spain now have a total of 17 UEFA Champions League trophies with Real Madrid and Barcelona sharing them.

Also making history were Sadio Mane and Mohammed Sallah as they both became the only African players to score up to 10 goals in a single season of UEFA Champions League.
