The lawmaker representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Babajimi Benson has asked the Federal Government to urgently see to the completion of the National Primary Health Centre situated in Igbogbo area of Ikorodu, Lagos State.
Benson, who is the Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, made the call during the plenary on Wednesday.
He recalled that the facility was established in 2006 during the administration of President Olusegun Obasanjo but was abandoned after it got to about 75 per cent completion.
The lawmaker stated that 13 years after, the building housing the facility is getting dilapidated without serving its purpose, adding that the drugs supplied ahead of the completion of the NPHC have expired without been judiciously dispensed to residents.
The House thereafter resolved to urge the National Primary Health Care Development Agency to include the funding for the completion of the Federal Medical Centre, Igbogbo, in the 2022 budget estimate.
The Green Chamber also asked the House Committee on Appropriation to make available funding for the completion, while mandating the House Committee on Legislative Compliance to ensure its resolution is put to action.
