By Ayodeji Tinubu Salutes Yaba LCDA Legislative Council in Heartfelt Farewell Message
Former Local council chairman aspirant, Ayodeji Rilwan Tinubu, has penned a powerful farewell tribute to the Legislative Council of Yaba Local Council Development Area (LCDA), applauding their transformative role in deepening democratic governance and public engagement at the local level.
In a message titled “My Jolly Good Legislative Council of Yaba LCDA,” Tinubu expressed deep admiration for the council’s consistent commitment to accountability, citizen inclusion, and innovation since 2017, beginning under Hon. Gbinigie Solomon and now under Hon. Olujobi Kayode, who took over in September 2024.
“You, my jolly good legislative council, have proven beyond all reasonable doubt that with dedication, collaboration, and genuine leadership, transformational change is possible,” Tinubu wrote.
Highlighting the council’s achievements, Tinubu praised its progressive lawmaking approach, which prioritizes public hearings and puts community voices at the heart of legislation.
He also commended the council’s rigorous budget oversight, conflict resolution efforts, and media advocacy that have helped demystify local governance for everyday citizens.
Tinubu fondly recalled November 26, 2024, when he addressed the council during a plenary session, a moment that followed their encounter in London during the council’s Oxford seminar.
He described the opportunity as a testament to the council’s openness and maturity.
Calling the Yaba LCDA legislature “a rare gem,” he celebrated its well-maintained official website, which he said stands as a model for transparency and grassroots innovation across Nigeria.
As the council transitions leadership with Dr. Adebayo Adefuye at the helm of the executive arm, Tinubu urged continued harmony between the two arms of government, saying:
“The future of Yaba LCDA depends on this synergy… Together, may you build a stronger, more prosperous community where good governance is not a privilege but a right.”
He also recommended broader leadership roles for past and present council leaders, Hon. Solomon and Hon. Olujobi Tajudeen, citing their firmness, humility, and foresight as qualities deserving of higher responsibilities.
The message ends with Tinubu’s rallying call for unity and progress:
