Dr. Aminat Olawunmi Ige has been appointed as the new Education Secretary of the Alimosho Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), part of a broader effort by the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB) to strengthen leadership and educational delivery at the grassroots level.
The appointment, approved by LASUBEB Executive Chairman Dr. Hakeem Shittu, was ratified at the Board’s Second Statutory Meeting held recently at the agency’s headquarters in Lagos.
Dr. Aminat Olawunmi Ige, a mathematician and lecturer at Lagos State University (LASU) gained national recognition after winning the Overall Best PhD Thesis Award at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) 54th Convocation Ceremony for the 2022/2023 academic session.
Her doctoral research, titled “O-Metric Spaces: A Novel Unification and Generalisation of Metric-Type Spaces With Applications in Fixed Point Theory,” was judged the best in the university across all faculties, bringing pride to her institution.
Dr. Ige is among three Education Secretaries newly assigned to oversee basic education administration in key local government areas across the state.
As Education Secretary for Alimosho LGEA, Dr. Ige is expected to play a central role in coordinating educational activities, supervising schools, and ensuring effective implementation of basic education policies within the largest local government area in Lagos State.
Her responsibilities include translating government directives into measurable outcomes at the grassroots, enhancing school oversight, and strengthening institutional collaboration across public primary schools.
The appointments align with the Lagos State Government’s T.H.E.M.E.S+ Agenda, which emphasizes technology-driven education and quality learning outcomes as part of broader developmental goals.
In congratulating Dr. Ige on her new role, education stakeholders expressed optimism that her leadership will contribute to improving learning environments and student performance across Alimosho’s educational institutions.
Dr. Ige’s appointment takes immediate effect as LASUBEB continues efforts to reinforce the state’s education leadership framework.
