By ASUU Is Only Distorting Facts And Peddling Falsehood Against LASU – Management Reveals
The management of Lagos State University has stated that members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) are all out to tarnish the image of the institution and also to truncate the peace currently enjoyed in the institution of learning.
In the press release signed by the Coordinator of the Centre of Information, Press and Public Relations, Mr Ademola Adekoya, the institution stated that the Union members were all out to distort facts to misguide the general public.
He disclosed that the LASU Branch of the Union, including the Zonal branch have been peddling falsehood in media houses, including in the social media, a development that have prompted the institution to react and set the record straight, for the benefits of all stakeholders.
He said, “Who is uncomfortable with the peace in LASU? It appears that the relative peace that has permeated the University in the last two years since the Vice Chancellor, Prof Olanrewaju Fagbohun, and his team came on board does not bode well for some groups and individuals.
“The Fact is that the all-inclusive governance style of the current University Administration has seen the University enjoying unprecedented development and goodwill. The news of transformation that weekly emanates from Nigeria’s Best State University are as a result of the synergy between all Stakeholders- the Governing Council, Management, Staff, Student and Staff and Student Unions of the University, thus the new Mantra: We are LASU, we are proud!”
He added that the Union, including the Zonal leaders are only on an unwarranted struggles to disturb the peace of the institution for their personal benefits, money. He included that their failure is assured as nothing will truncate the relative peace been enjoyed.
Speaking further, Mr Ademola debunked rumours about a supposed pending crisis looming in the school as he said it was an antic by the Union leaders to lure the Management into submission of its personal demands. He said the restructure of things in the school have made it impossible for them to survive with their belligerent nature. He noted that there’s no impending crisis as being peddled.
He said apart from the body of Professors and Associate Professors and other Senior Academics in the University distancing themselves from the nefarious activities of ASUU-LASU after denouncing them, most members of the Union do not support them too. He said the call for crisis by the few discredited ones is mischievous and self-servicing, thereby advising the public to completely disregard and ignore the rumours.
