“When we got to the widows and told them that we just wanted to hang out with them, they gave us a look.
See, I don’t blame them, they are really petty traders, they feed on daily sales and can’t afford to relax because they must feed their children.
We brought out Ludo and whot and asked who has played any fun game, they said no..
We then appealed and motivated them to start..
Then the faces changed.
They all started behaving like babies.
They were smiling and celebrating wins and losses.
They couldn’t believe they still had it in them as they didn’t expect that something would make them smile.
They behaved like kids, smiled, relaxed.
We then asked if there was anything that could help their business improve.
They were relaxing, enjoying a bit of refreshment and didn’t even want to stop playing their games because it was a case of them enjoying their taste of ice cream.
They eventually shared their business challenges.
We kept saying, some angels are passing and might be listening.
They just spoke casually because they have been promised a lot by people but have been disappointed.
Viola, Dr. Kunle Kakanfo, and the team stepped in. They saw people in yellow.
To cut the long story short, with financial partnership support from Ashake Foundation and the Dr kay team, we were able to give 10 widows a sum of N10,000 each….
At first, they were stunned but after the realization sunk in, they were blown away.
These women sells, roasted corn, charcoal, pap, petty things, etc, you can just imagine what 10,000 would do for their small business.
We also gave a lunch packkkkk that got everyone savory for more. It was the best October 1, celebration for the team.
I want to thank you for always supporting Ashake Foundation.. For my impeccable team, i salute.
Sincerely, yesterday, I was filled with so much joy.
It was our Independence celebration with Widows in Abuja.
