Brigadier General Dzarma Zirkusu and three other soldiers have lost their lives during a recent fierce face-off with the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists.
In a statement on Saturday, the Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, said the senior officer alongside three soldiers paid the supreme sacrifice while providing reinforcement in a counter offensive attack against the ISWAP terrorists in Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.
Nwachukwu said the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Faruq Yahaya has commiserated with the families and relations of the fallen heroes and also instructed the troops to continue in their ferrocious pursuit to eliminate the terrorists.
Meanwhile, during the encounter, troops of Joint Task Force neutralized several ISWAP terrorists and destroyed some of their war weaponer: Five A – Jet, two A-29, two Dragon combat vehicles and nine gun trucks.
