Eunice Wuraola Ogini, the first daughter of Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola, has warned clergymen to desist from spreading lies and unverified claims about her late father, the founder of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC).
Her statement comes in response to a recent comment by Biodun Fatoyinbo, lead pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), who claimed that despite Apostle Babalola’s “heavy anointing,” he lived in poverty and questioned the whereabouts of his children.
In a video message, Mrs Ogini insisted that her father was comfortable during his lifetime and should be remembered for his uncompromising dedication to preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.
“My father, in his lifetime, preached the gospel of Christ without compromise,” she said.
“During his crusades, people brought their idols, shrines, and occultic materials to be destroyed by fire. I want to ask that when people mention my father’s name during their preaching, they should speak the truth with love and respect.”
She urged pastors and ministers to verify facts before making public statements, citing Apostle Paul’s admonition in Colossians 4:6 for believers to ensure their words are “gracious and seasoned with salt.”
“Ministers of God, please honour the Lord when you are on your pulpit. Verify every information to avoid lies and speculation,” she added.
Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola, who died in 1959, is regarded as one of the most influential revivalists in Nigeria’s Christian history, credited with leading mass evangelism campaigns that drew thousands and inspired a spiritual awakening across the country.
