APC to hold special congresses ahead of primaries

Ahead of its primaries billed to hold this month, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced plans to conduct special congresses in all states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaimon Muhammad Argungu made this known in a statement currently in circulation on social media, which highlighted the schedule for the congresses.

Ward congresses to elect LGA & State Delegates will hold on Saturday, May 7. The following day, Sunday, May 8 is fixed to hear appeals that might arise from the ward congresses.

The LGA congresses to elect national delegates will also hold on Sunday. While appeals arising from the state congresses will be heard on Monday, May 9.

Nomination forms are to be obtained at respective State Secretariats of the APC State Chapters and at the National Secretariat, No. 40, Blantyre Street, Wuse II, Abuja. The sales of forms commences on Tuesday, May 3.

LGA delegates will pay N5,000, while their State and National counterparts will pay N5,000 and N10,000, respectively. However, all female aspirants and persons living With Disabilities (PLWD) aspirants will pay 50% of the prescribed fees.

All payments for the purchase of Nomination Forms are be made directly into the designated bank account of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as follows: Fidelity Bank – 560-0834-021 and Zenith Bank – 101-379-6249.

Argungu noted that two of the five (5) Local Government Delegates to be elected at the Ward Congress must, mandatorily, be women. In the same vein, two of the five (5) State Delegates to be elected at the Ward Congress must, mandatorily, be women. Also, one of the three (3) elected National Delegates to be elected at the Local Government Area must be a woman.
