The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released a proposed timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 general elections, outlining key dates for its primaries and fixing the cost of nomination forms for various elective positions.
According to the document signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Alhaji Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, the party will begin the process with the issuance of notice of election to its state chapters on April 20, 2026.
The sale of expression of interest and nomination forms will run from April 25 to May 2, 2026 at the APC National Secretariat, while completed forms are to be submitted on or before May 4, 2026.
The screening of aspirants will hold between May 9 and May 10, 2026, with the publication of screening results scheduled for May 13. Appeals arising from the screening exercise will be entertained on May 14.
The timetable also indicates that party primaries for various elective offices will take place between May 16 and May 29, 2026. During this period, aspirants for state assemblies, governorship, the House of Representatives, Senate, and the presidency will emerge.
The special convention for the presidential primary is fixed for May 28 and 29, 2026, while appeals relating to the primaries will be handled between May 24 and May 25, depending on the office.
The document also outlines the financial requirements for aspirants seeking the party’s ticket.
Presidential aspirants are required to pay a total of ₦100 million, which includes ₦30 million for the expression of interest form and ₦70 million for the nomination form.
Those seeking governorship tickets will pay ₦50 million, while Senate aspirants are expected to pay ₦20 million. Aspirants for the House of Representatives will pay ₦10 million, and House of Assembly hopefuls will pay ₦5 million.
The party stated that women, youths, and persons with disabilities will pay for the expression of interest form and enjoy a 50 percent reduction on the nomination fee.
As the preparation for 2027 elections draw nearer, party insiders and supporters are making moves in getting a unified candidates to flag their party in the next general elections.
