LOCAL COUNCIL PRIMARY ELECTION: POSITION TAKEN BY THE CDC IJEDE LCDA*

Dear Colleagues,

Flashback to July 16th, 2017 at Ijede Community Hall, we all appraised in details and resolved through Chairman Jabe CDA Comrade Isaac Ogunshola to pitch with one of our own, Alhaji Fatiu Jimoh Oladunni Salisu as our preferred candidate in the July 22, 2017 local Council election.

Our decision then was based on 4 planks:

1) The fact that all our Patrons and Patroness admonished us to support the then candidate.

3) That Comrade Salisu being the founder and 1st Vice Chairman Irepodun Ijede CDA as it were, is suitably qualified and being one of us which is a sign that the political elites in Ijede LCDA recognized our constituency.

4) Most importantly, that Comrade Salisu has been one of the secret pillars of support for the CDC since the present leadership took office on December 19, 2013.

The endorsement was unanimous and total on that day

In our quest to live in accordance with the spirit and letters of our constitution which is chiefly to support government at all levels particularly at LG level being Advisory Body to the Council Chairman, an emergency meeting was convened on Sunday May 23, 2021 at Okeletu Town Hall.

In accordance with covid-19 protocols, All CDC Exco, JCDA leaders and selected Chairmen across the 4 political wards were invited with over 70% in attendance.

After quorum was ascertained, the experience of the last 22 months were captured in the CDC Chairman’s address and the floor was left opened for members to react appropriately.

The entire members present acknowledged that the incumbent Chairman has pitched with the CDC in the last period under review in support by way of grants in aid to 11 CDAs, provision of electrical materials, partnering with CDC through grading exercise non stop on yearly basis, rehabilitation of several moribund boreholes especially the micro waterworks in Etita Ward B, due recognition to the CDC culminating in the Council being the highest singular donor to the CDC Bus project, a 1st in the entire State amongst other largesse.

The CDC in session however resolved to meet with the Council Chairman to resolve grey areas particularly 2021 Grading exercise and gaps noticed thereon.

After all these, for the second time on the bounce, Comrade Ogunshola again moved that we endorse the sole aspirant who has shown recognition to our Constituency and based on his track record that has brought 5 State projects, 2 HoR projects and 1 Senatorial project within three years to our Council….deflooding of Abule Mahmud, Idera and Okeletu axis, rehabilitation of Anwar Pry School and Bursary Awards plus the gargantuan edifice that the Council Secretariat represents.

Comrade Samota Salami of Olainukan Ipakan who also doubles as a JCDA Chairman while seconding the motion appealed that whatever may be one or two grey areas should be forgiven the Executive Chairman and that as the Advisory Body, the enlarged Exco should meet to iron it out and report back to the House.

It must however be noted for solidarity sake that two members who came in late after the resolution attempted to reopen the matter which was ruled out and meeting drew to a close on approval of members.

CONCLUSION

In line with our resolution highlighted above:

All card carrying members of the CDC are hereby directed to mobilize all members for one of us who has stood by us since 2013 before assumption of office as Executive Chairman so that the continued robust development can be sustained.

From Igbopa, Igbodo, Igbodu, Powerline, Abule Eko, Ilupeju and Okeletu, all roads lead to Okeletu Town Hall at 8am tomorrow.

For Etita, Itundesan, Ayegbami, Mayflower Ojú Ogun etc, be at Reading room to return our member as Council Chairman for second time.

For Ebute Olowo, Ipakan, Iponmi, Thermal Station and Egbin Kingdom, show the stuff you are made off by going to Ipakan Community Hall.

And in Ward C, our people in Ayetoro, Okeyinbo, Oloja, Kapo, Ogunro, Oko Ope, Irepodun, Olorusogo. and Idera etc…you must make it count at Ijede Community Hall.

We must state here even in passing that WE ARE ALL POLITICAL ANIMALS and must not be onlookers in matters that will shape the affairs of our 138 CDAs and still counting….This bulletin represents the wishes of the majority of all the CDAs while recognizing the opinion and position of the subliminal few. Another round of meeting shall be convened shortly after meeting with our chosen aspirant. Thankfully, all CDAs are queued up this time under ONE party so realignments shall be easy after tomorrow’s exercise. Let us therefore ensure that we embrace the peace before, during and after this exercise because WE ARE ONE!
