The APC caretaker chairman of Yola South Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Alhaji Sulaiman Adamu, has been expelled by the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC).

This was as a result of the unflattering utterances made by Adamu in a leaked audio about the leader of the party, President Muhammadu Buhari.

In the audio, the party chairman reportedly said he wished Buhari had died of coronavirus.

The expulsion, which is to take immediate effect, was made known in a statement by the National Secretary of the ruling party, John James Akpanudoedehe, on Thursday.

The report of his actions and offences was received and deliberated on by the CECPC of which he was found guilty of bringing the image of the party to disrepute, thereby creating doubt on his quality and loyalty to the party.

β€œThe CECPC calls on party members to always demonstrate self-discipline and restraint by desisting from acts and utterances that are inimical to the interest of the party,” the statement said.

Adamu’s expulsion was part of the resolutions reached at the 16th meeting of the CECPC held at the party’s National Secretariat, Buhari House in Abuja on Wednesday, September 1, 2021.
