Shakiru Moritan Seidu (SMS), a prominent aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has formally withdrawn from the race for the Chairmanship of Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) ahead of the forthcoming local government elections.
In a statement personally signed and released to the public, Seidu expressed gratitude to his family, supporters, and political associates for their unwavering confidence and loyalty over the past two years since he declared his ambition.
According to him, his decision to contest was borne out of a deep passion to contribute meaningfully to the development of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA.
He, however, noted that the current political arrangement within the APC leadership informed his choice to step down from the race in the interest of peace and party unity.
“Arriving at this decision is indeed a difficult one for me, taking into account the support, confidence, and loyalty I enjoyed from my teeming supporters,” Seidu stated, while appealing to his followers to accept his withdrawal as a necessary sacrifice for the greater good of the party.
He reaffirmed his commitment to the APC and pledged to support the party’s eventual candidate, adding that he remains hopeful for future opportunities to serve.
Seidu also expressed heartfelt appreciation to key supporters including Chief Odofin Tajudeen Alade Onasanya, Hon. Adebimpe Akinsola, Rep. Babajimi Benson, and members of his IreOtun campaign team, among others.
Despite stepping down, Seidu assured the residents of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA of his continued support, promising to remain a selfless servant leader dedicated to the progress of the community.
“Beyond my Chairmanship aspiration, IreOtun will not elude Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA as the community will continue to enjoy my unwavering support and invaluable contributions,” he concluded.
