The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested Saleh Idris, a 56-year-old chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Roni local government area of Jigawa State, for allegedly defiling and impregnating his 14-year-old housemaid.
The victim’s brother reported the case to the NSCDC after the suspect failed to honour an agreement reached at the Hisbah office to take responsibility for the pregnancy.
The suspect was also accused of pressurising the family to abort the pregnancy.
According to the victim, the suspect drugged and raped her when his wife was away.
She said he gave her a drink that made her lose consciousness and then had carnal knowledge of her.
She also revealed that this was her first encounter with the suspect.
