The All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed former Katsina State governor, Aminu Bello Masari, as Chairman of its National Convention Central Coordination Committee ahead of the party’s national convention scheduled for March 27 and 28, 2026.
The development was announced in a statement signed by the APC National Secretary, Surajudeen Basiru, and published on the party’s official X handle on Friday.
According to the statement, the party leadership, after further consultations with national stakeholders, approved a fresh reconstitution of the Central Coordination Committee to strengthen preparations for the convention.
“As part of further consultation with the leadership and national stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Central Coordination Committee for the National Convention has been reconstituted,” the statement said, adding that sub-committees would be constituted and announced in due course.
Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, who was earlier announced as chairman of the committee, has now been reassigned to serve as treasurer following the latest reshuffle.
The reconstitution also expanded the membership of the committee from 73 to 90, with the inclusion of additional party leaders, among them Senator Barry Mpigi and other senior chieftains.
Under the new structure, former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim, was appointed Vice Chairman I, while Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, will serve as Vice Chairman II. Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, was retained as Secretary of the committee.
The changes come just days after the APC initially unveiled Uzodimma as chairman of the 73-member committee, signalling intensified internal adjustments as the party prepares for its national convention, which is expected to culminate in the election of new members of the National Working Committee.
