Some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have expressed their displeasure with the delay in the commencement of the party’s primary election for the Lagos State House of Assembly seat in Ikorodu Constituency I.
The election was billed to commence at exactly 2pm on Thursday. However, as at 4:30pm, the exercise was yet to commence, a development that several party members find unpalatable.
Our correspondent observed that the venue of the election, Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area secretariat, is agog with party members, supporters of aspirants, and security operatives. Delegates are also said to be present.
A party member who spoke to BlackBox Nigeria on the condition of anonymity attributed the delay in commencement to a probable change in the process, saying there was a possibility that leaders of the APC in Ikorodu may adopt a consensus candidate.
Meanwhile, the aspirants in the race are the incumbent Ikorodu Constituency I lawmaker and Lagos Assembly Majority Leader, Sanai Agunbiade; immediate past Director-General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Toyin Gafaar Bolowotan; son of former Lagos State deputy governor, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, Gbolahan Adetokunbo Ogunleye; Prince Eniola Adeyemi; Samson Bisiriyu; Isikalu Abiodun, among others.
