Popular British‑Nigerian heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua was involved in a serious road accident on Monday along the Lagos‑Ibadan Expressway in Makun, Ogun State, BlackBox Nigeria has learnt.
According to multiple eyewitness accounts and local media coverage, the vehicle carrying Joshua, reportedly a Lexus Jeep with registration plate KRD 850 HN, collided with a stationary truck under circumstances that remain unclear.
The crash was severe enough that two people are reported to have died at the scene, while Joshua himself sustained only minor injuries and was able to walk away from the scene. Bystanders and rescuers assisted following the collision, with local authorities beginning an investigation into what caused the incident.
The accident occurred on one of Nigeria’s busiest highways shortly after Joshua’s return to the country, where he has been spending the festive season following his recent high‑profile boxing victory over American YouTuber‑turned boxer Jake Paul in Miami.
As of this report, neither Joshua nor his official representatives have issued a public statement on the crash, and Nigerian police have not released further details on the ongoing investigation.
