Popular Tiktoker, DJ Chicken narrowly escaped a violent mob attack in Sagamu this weekend after his vehicle reportedly collided with a motorcycle carrying two passengers.
According to multiple eyewitnesses and viral videos circulating on social media, the incident occurred around midday on Saturday when DJ Chicken’s pickup truck struck the motorcycle at a busy junction. Within seconds, angry bystanders surrounded the truck, dragged the DJ from the vehicle and began assaulting him before law‑enforcement officers intervened.
Videos reviewed by The Punch show DJ Chicken being punched and hit with blunt objects as stunned spectators recorded the scene. Ten persons are said to have been injured in the resulting altercation; at least nine were in critical condition following the mob action.
Police and traffic‑monitoring units later arrived and transferred DJ Chicken to a nearby hospital for treatment; no official statement has yet been issued on whether criminal charges will follow against either the driver or the assailants.
Many locals say the violent reaction stemmed from frustration over traffic accidents and poor road safety enforcement in the area.
Social‑media users have debated whether the mob’s response was justified or a lapse in civility and due process.
Efforts to locate DJ Chicken’s management for comment were unsuccessful as of press time.
The incident highlights ongoing concerns about vigilante justice, road‑safety risks and the vulnerability of public figures in Nigeria’s social‑media age.
