Ambode Stops Gbajabiamila From Taking Over Surulere, Blocks Attempt To Unseat Ajide

BlackBox Nigeria has reliably gathered that Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on Wednesday halted moves to unseat ailing Hon Tajudeen Yusuf Ajide as Chairman of Surulere Local Government.

Before the Governor’s intervention, Hon Sulaiman Yusuf, the Vice Chairman had concluded plans with the nine councillors in the LGA to use the current state of health of the Chairman to pass a resolution compelling him to resign which will usher in Yusuf as the new Chairman.

A source in the know disclosed to BBN that the resolution by Yusuf had the backing of the Constituency’s lawmaker, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila who had all the plans predetermined.

According to him, the resolution had the imprint of Hon Gbajabiamila as he has been responsible for the positioning of Yusuf as the Vice Chairman of the Council repeatedly.

“Gbajabiamila is the puppeteer controlling the strings. He is the one instigating Sule and others. Yussuf is Gbajabiamila’s boy, who he made vice chairman for the second time. He dare not make any move except our leader (Femi Gbajabiamila) directed such”, the source revealed.

He disclosed that the failure of the Councillors to present a tangible medical report of Hon Ajide to declare him unfit for the seat gave the resolution bottleneck before the Alausa intervention.

It was learnt that Governor Ambode directed Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Taofeek Folami to quickly curtail the impending crisis in the Council.
