In what seemed to be an historic battle between two boxing powerhouses, the trilogy war between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder was over in 11 rounds.
Dating back to December 2018, when the two first clashed in Las Vegas (U.S.A), the bout ended in a controversial draw with a rematch to scheduled to hold.
Then, the second bout was held in February 2020 at Nevada (U.S.A), where Tyson Fury won with a Technical Knockout (TKO) in the seventh round, bringing Wilder’s unbeaten run to an end.
Wilder, unsatisfied with the previous bout, initiated a contractual rematch clause in March 2020 and was granted.
The bout was scheduled to hold in July 2020 but was postponed again in October and December due the global pandemic; until it was finally agreed to hold on Saturday, October 9, 2021.
The third bout, which took place at the mobile Arena, Las Vegas (U.S.A) saw the Gypsy King, Fury get knocked down more than once by Wilder in the first set of rounds.
But the former was able to return by knocking down Wilder twice before a final TKO, with his right hook, in the 11th round.
With this fight, Deontay Wilder has lost twice in the trilogy and drew once against Tyson Fury. In February 2020, Wilder accused Fury of cheating but Saturday’s clash was clear to everyone that only the best and strong won.
Tyson Fury is now the World Boxing Council heavyweight belt along with the Ring Magazine Heavyweight titles.
Meanwhile, Deontay Wilder has been taken to the hospital for precautionary checks as result of the TKO from Tyson Fury.
The fight has received comments from celebrities and respected personalities all over the world.
Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) wrote on Twitter, “That was one of the greatest fights I’ve ever seen. #1 #2 And #1 is undefeated going in. Congrats to my friend & champion @Tyson_Fury.
