Agboyi-Ketu begins redevelopment of Mandela Market / Park

 

In order to boost the economy of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA through the provision of a befitting environment for commercial activities, the locality under the chairmanship of Mayor Dele Oshinowo has begun the re-development of Mandela Market/Park, Mile 12.

The re-development exercise which would be carried out under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) Agreement was initiated to revitalize the market in order to function to its intended purpose.

The ongoing project which is expected to create jobs while construction is underway will give room for multipurpose uses when completed.

Providing explanation on the fate of traders who owned shops in the old market, the council mayor explained that they would be considered first on completion of the market.

Mayor Dele further stated that the LCDA has designed a seamless Approach to ensuring that the traders get to pay for the new and modern shops in installments, adding that the re-development exercise would be done in phases to ensure traders in the market are not displaced.

The chairman further noted that the mix of construction work and commercial activities was to ensure old shop owners gathered resources to meet up with the affordable target for the new shops.
