Yesterday, in Ikorodu, Lagos, Rep. Babajimi Benson, the representative for Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, once again demonstrated his commitment to the welfare of his constituents by distributing over 2000 solar-powered lights to households in the area.
Addressing attendees at the event, Benson emphasized the importance of the initiative in showcasing the administration’s dedication to the people of Ikorodu. He underscored the significance of ensuring that constituents benefit from the dividends of democracy, particularly given their overwhelming support in the last election.
Benson highlighted that the empowerment program is part of a series of ongoing initiatives aimed at empowering members of the APC party and constituents in the area. He assured residents that more development projects are in the pipeline for Ikorodu, emphasizing that the community deserves even more for its remarkable performance in the 2023 elections.
His Excellency Abiodun Ogunleye, a prominent leader in the Ikorodu division and member of the Lagos Governor Advisory Council (GAC), praised Benson’s consistent efforts in delivering quality representation to the constituency. He expressed gratitude for the distribution of solar-powered fans and lights, praying for Benson’s continued capacity to serve the community.
Mayor Deen Sanwoola, the Director-General of the iCare Foundation, highlighted the significance of the initiative, noting that it marks the third edition of free solar handouts to Ikorodu constituents since 2020. The distribution targeted various stakeholders, including party executives, community leaders, youths, and other stakeholders.
While approximately 500 solar systems were distributed to party faithfuls during the event, an additional 1500 members of the general public are expected to benefit from the next distribution exercise through nominations.
The event underscored Benson’s unwavering commitment to improving the lives of residents in Ikorodu through sustainable empowerment initiatives and community development projects.
