Following the petition against the August 9, 2022, Presidential Election in Kenya, the supreme court has upheld the results in favour of Williams Ruto.
The court held that the outgoing President and petitioner, Odinga failed to prove his case convincingly that the vote was marred by rigging and irregularities.
The seven-member court found no discrepancies in the vote tallies and no credible evidence that the electoral commission’s computer systems and transmission network had failed or been breached.
The Chief Justice of Kenya, Martha Koome in an abridged ruling handed down in Nairobi today, said the allegations by some citizens that they were prevented from casting their votes or that ballot boxes were tampered with were unproven.
“It is our finding that the declared president-elect attend 50% plus one of the votes cast” in accordance with the constitution, Koome said.
Koome further said that is the unanimous decision of the court.
