Box Office Queen Funke Akindele is set to take her record-breaking movie Behind The Scenes to a global audience, following a viral announcement that the film will premiere on Netflix on April 3, 2026.
The announcement was made by the film’s distributor, FilmOne Entertainment, in a post that quickly gained traction online.
In the now-viral message, the company revealed that the blockbuster movie would transition from cinemas to streaming after its historic box office run.
“From shattering box office records to streaming in your home… Behind The Scenes will be available for streaming from April 3rd,” the distributor stated in the post announcing the deal.
The film, produced and directed by Akindele, has been widely celebrated as a landmark success for Nollywood, grossing over ₦2.7 billion and emerging as one of the highest-grossing Nigerian films of all time.
Featuring a star-studded cast including Scarlet Gomez, Uzor Arukwe and Tobi Bakre, the movie explores themes of family, generosity and personal responsibility, which resonated strongly with audiences during its cinema run.
The move also signals Akindele’s return to Netflix after a period of distributing her projects through other streaming platforms, further cementing her reputation as one of the most commercially successful filmmakers in Africa.
