Ethiopa’s Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesu has emerged the new Director General of the World Health Organisation after defeating contenders from Europe and Asia.
Dr Tedros enjoyed support from over 35 top global health leaders which included; former Health Minister Dr Muhammed Ali Pate and President of Wellbeing Foundation Africa, Mrs Toin Ojora Saraki.
He also enjoyed from seasoned personalities, prominent academics and recognised civil society advocates who threw their weight behind him to take up the top job in WHO.
He was moments ago announced as the WHO Director General-elect via the verified handle of the health organisation at the conclusion of the 70th World Health Assembly in Switzerland.
