The former Chelsea and Manchester United star is hoping to make history if he emerges President

Former FIFA World Footballer of the Year, George Oppong Weah might be on his way to the seat of power if election results coming in from Liberia can be taken seriously. This is following yesterday’s Presidential election that held across the country’s 5,400 polling stations.

Fillers from Monrovia, the Liberian capital have it that the former football star has taken an early lead as counting continues in the Presidential election.

BlackBox Nigeria learnt that despite more than 20 contenders running for President, George Weah is in a two horse race with the current Vice President, Joseph Boaka who comes in close according to counted votes.

George Weah who became a Senator in 2015 contested against incumbent, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf in 2005. His party, Coalition For Democratic Change has also over the years gained more supporters owning to Weah’s popularity.

Joseph Boaka who has been Vice President for almost 12 years however had his biggest challenge being his fallout with his principal, Ms Sirleaf.

Observers have however said the election might most definitely lead to a runoff which will be announced in less than two weeks after the election final result is made public.
