In a stunning upset, Sean Strickland dethroned Israel Adesanya as the UFC middleweight champion with a unanimous decision victory at UFC 293 in Sydney, Australia.
Strickland dominated the fight with his relentless pressure and crisp boxing, dropping Adesanya in the first round and outlanding him in every round.
The judges scored the bout 49-46 for Strickland, who became the new middleweight king with his 28th win in 33 fights.
Adesanya suffered his third career loss and his second title defeat, after losing to Jan Blachowicz for the light heavyweight belt in March.
