Ademola Lookman was named Man of the Match following his outstanding performance in Nigeria’s thrilling 3–2 win over Tunisia in their Group C clash at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 in Morocco.
The Atalanta forward was instrumental in the Super Eagles’ attack, scoring Nigeria’s third goal, a brilliant solo effort that ultimately sealed the game. His creativity, pace, and composure on the ball gave the Tunisian defence trouble throughout the encounter.
This marks Lookman’s first individual accolade of the tournament, and it comes at a crucial time as Nigeria secured qualification for the knockout stage with two wins from two games.
The latest goals adds to his growing list of contributions for the super eagles in the tournament. He also made assists in the first two goals by Wilfred Ndidi and Victor Osimhen. He helped Nigeria actively in the last AFCON which Nigeria eventually lost to Ivory Coast.
Fans and analysts alike praised his impact, noting that the former England youth international has quickly become one of Nigeria’s most reliable players on the continental stage.
Lookman expressed gratitude after receiving the award, dedicating the win to his teammates and Nigerian supporters.
“I’m happy to contribute to the team’s success. We’re focused, and we want to keep pushing forward,” he said.
