Babajimi Adegoke Benson, the House of Representatives member for Ikorodu Federal Constituency, recently inspected the ongoing construction of the Abule-Eko-Ewu-Owa Road in Ijede, Lagos State.
During his visit, Rep. Benson praised Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, the Executive Chairman of Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA), and expressed gratitude to the community and the contractor, Nigeria Defense, for their cooperation and dedication to the project.
“I am impressed with the progress and the support given to the contractors. When we visited less than a month ago, I was unsure about meeting the January completion timeline, but today’s work has reassured me,” Benson remarked as he reviewed the construction of the 8-meter wide, 4.5-kilometer long road.
Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, in an interview with Blackbox Nigeria, emphasized the road’s significance to the Ijede community and its surrounding areas. “This road is a major improvement for Ijede. It will benefit not only Ijede residents but also those in Ikorodu Central and Gberigbe. It’s been a long-standing need, and we are grateful for Rep. Jimi Benson’s timely intervention.”
She also highlighted that, despite still being under construction, the road has already begun to make a noticeable impact on the local economy. “Abandoned shops and houses are beginning to see renewed activity, signalling a positive turnaround for the area,” she noted.
The road construction, which began on August 23rd, is scheduled for completion by January 2025, according to the statements from the Nigeria Defense contractor and the CDA chairman. The project is expected to further boost economic growth and improve accessibility within the region.
