All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the December 5 Lagos East Senatorial District by-election, Mr. Tokunbo Abiru, has lauded, Lagos Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for initiating a rebuild Lagos after the #EndSARS unrest.
Abiru, in a session with journalists at Alausa, Ikeja at the inauguration of the Rebuild Trust Fund, said what happened was a dark moment in the history of the state.
“After these incidents, it is imperative that Lagos must be rebuilt. This is the focus of this forum. Sanwo-Olu started it with the signing of an executive order establishing the Lagos State Rebuild Trust Fund. The outcome of this forum will further deepen the process of implementing the executive order.
“These initiatives are commendable. On behalf of the people of Lagos East, I thank Mr. Governor for providing strong leadership at this trying time.
“The task of building or rebuilding is a collective one, which the governor recognises. “Governor Sanwo-Olu recognises that all stakeholders – civil society, corporate Nigeria, informal actors, diplomatic community and indeed all residents – should play one role or the other in rebuilding Lagos State.
“I urged everyone to support the governor in the task of rebuilding and repositioning Lagos State.” Abiru said.
Speaking about the rescheduled by-election, the senatorial candidate said: “Without ambiguity, we are confident of winning this election by God’s grace.
“We came into the race with the objectives of offering people-oriented representation and deploying the instruments of lawmaking and legislative resolutions to promote Nigerians’ welfare.” Abiru noted.
