As the year is winding down, Ondo State have continue to be in the news for the negative reasons as just one week after four people were kidnapped in the state, another news broke during the weekend that three persons were reportedly abducted by some unknown gunmen.
Report has it that the abduction took place in two different locations which victims involved a lecturer of the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo Known as one Mr Michael Olopete of the Department of Marketing abducted on the Owo-Ipele Road. The other two victims abducted on the Owo-Ikare Expressway were unknown travellers.
According to the Authorities while expressing worries on the upsurge of kidnapping in Ondo State, The lecturer of the marketing department was kidnapped by Fulani herdsmen between Ipele and Owo. Another kidnapping took place at Oba Akoko. The three persons were taken away into the bush.
One will recall that four persons had last week been reported abducted by some gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen at Amurin village on the Ikere-Owo Road, Owo Local Government Area of the state.
Three of the victims were members of staff of the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, while the other one was a lecturer at the same Polytechnic, Mr Taiwo Akinyemi.
Mean while, the medical workers regained freedom after ransom was paid by their families, while the lecturer died in the kidnappers’ den.
