A Splash of Culture and Colour as Ikorodu Kicks Off 34th Oga Day Celebration

It was a radiant display of unity and heritage as residents and indigenes of Ikorodu gathered to mark the 34th Ikorodu Oga Day Celebration with a colourful interfaith carnival. The opening ceremony, held at the Ikorodu Town Hall, brought together Christian, Muslim, and traditional leaders in a symbolic show of peace, harmony, and shared progress.

The week-long festival running from November 8 to 15, 2025, celebrates the rich culture, traditions, and developmental strides of the Ikorodu division.

In his royal address, His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, Ayangburen of Ikorodu, expressed gratitude to the people for their continuous support and commitment to preserving the cultural legacy of Ikorodu land.

Also speaking at the event, Chief Kaoli Olusanya, Asipa of Ikorodu Kingdom, noted that this year’s celebration brings a refreshing twist, engaging the youth across Ijomu, Aga, and Cele through the newly introduced Fanti Carnival Parade, which added colour, music, and energy to the festivities.

Otunba Ayodele Elesho, Agba Akin of Ikorodu and former Lagos State Commissioner for Information, commended the organizers for their innovation, highlighting the steady evolution of the festival. He described the introduction of the Fanti Carnival as a historic milestone that embodies the unity and creative spirit of the Ikorodu people.

He congratulated all participants, visitors, and well-wishers, offering prayers for continued peace, prosperity, and development in Ikorodu land.

Over the years, Ikorodu Oga Day has grown into a week-long celebration of cultural pride, attracting visitors from across Nigeria and the diaspora. The festival stands as a beacon of community spirit, tradition, and progress, showcasing the best of Ikorodu to the world.
