The construction of the 2.5km Selewu Road in Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has officially commenced, flagged off by Rep. Babajimi Benson.
This project is part of Rep. Benson’s broader efforts to upgrade the road network across the Ikorodu constituency. He has successfully completed several other road projects, including Agbele Community Road, Erunwen Road, Ikorodu-Sagamu Road, Igbogbo Passport Office Road, Lambo Lasuwon Road, Offin-Oreta, Odogunyan, and Lucky Fibre.
Additional roads completed under his tenure include Oshin Ladega Street, Agbala, Amudat Jokomba Street, Olokunola Street, Oladunjoye Oriola Street (Better Food), Oguntuga Street, Igbeyin Adun Street, Olaore Oshikoya Street, Ayodele Ayeni Street, Giwa Efugbotu Street, and Adeyiga Street (Benson Estate linking Munirat Aleje and Benson Bus Stop).
Meanwhile, construction is ongoing on other key roads, such as Oriokuta Road, Apeje, Amugbase, Ogunnowwo, Tanimola, Olugayan, Iradelu, and Olufoworosete Road.
The project, set to be completed within five months, will feature solar-powered streetlights, a development expected to enhance economic activity and significantly improve residents’ quality of life.
Although Rep. Benson was unable to attend the ceremony in person, his presence was felt through his team from the iCare Foundation, led by Director-General Deen Sanwoola, who represented him at the event.
Benson expressed his gratitude for the widespread support, stating, “The flag-off ceremony of the Selewu Road project was a success. I am deeply grateful to my team at the iCare Foundation, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, represented by High Chief Tajudeen Onasanya, Chairman of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA Builder Sesan Daini, Hon. Akinsola Adebimpe, and all other stakeholders for their invaluable support.”
The Selewu Road project is one of 65 road projects initiated under Rep. Benson’s tenure over the past five years, underscoring his commitment to infrastructure development in Ikorodu.
Local stakeholders, including High Chief Onasanya and LCDA Chairman Daini, also commended the initiative, highlighting its potential to transform the area’s socio-economic landscape.
The solar-powered streetlights to be installed along the road will not only enhance security but also provide a sustainable solution to energy needs in the community.
Residents of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA have lauded Rep. Benson’s ongoing efforts to develop the region, describing the project as a “game-changer” for the Selewu community.
