2019 Elections: INEC Distributes New Data Capturing Machines
Against rising complaints of ineptitude in registering eligible voters ahead of the 2019 General elections, information reaching BlackBox Nigeria has it that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Monday distributed new Direct Data Capturing Machines (DDCMs) to all its offices in the 20 Local Government Areas in Lagos State.
According to a reliable source, the newly distributed machine is meant to ease registrations tension that is fast building around the country.
BBN gathered that the freshly distributed machines are upgrades of the former computer systems being used by the INEC officials to capture electorates who are out to get their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC). The source added that the efficiency of the machine makes it to capture all required data of a single person in 120seconds.
While the previous computer system had a scanner which scans all fingers separately, thereby slowing down the process, the new machine scans all ten fingers at a go. The new machine has a camera embedded in it, with good picture resolutions and also comes with its own unique printer
In addition, it has a special power bank pack that can last for days when in use non-stop and no power supply.
