President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR has confirmed the appointment of Ambassador Ibrahim Agboola Gambari CFR as the new Chief of Staff.

The 78year old Professor replaces late Mallam Abba Kyari who has been in the position since 2015 till his death in April.

1. He was a former Minister of External Affairs. He was in office between 1984 and 1985.

2. Until his appointment, he was the Special Adviser on International Compact with Iraq and Other Issues for the Secretary General of the United Nations.

3. He was named the pioneer Chancellor of Kwara State Univeristy in 2013 by then Governor, Abdulfatai Ahmed.

4. He was appointed as Joint African UNion-UNited Nations Special Representative for Darfur in 2010 by the then Secretary General of United Nations, Ban Ki-Moon and Chairperson of African Union Commission.

5. He is a scholar, ambassador of repute and a global citizen whose scholarly works are recognised both home and abroad

Additional, he was born on November 24th, 1944 in Ilorin, Kwara State, North Central Nigeria.
