49-Year Old LASU Graduate, Adekunle Akinlade, Emerges Gov Amosun’s Anointed APC Candidate In Ogun State

Graduate of Political Science from Lagos State University, Adekunle Abdulkabir Akinlade (TripleA) has emerged as the consensus candidate of Leaders of All Progressives Congress (APC), in the Ogun Central Senatorial District in the 2019 gubernatorial election in the state.

His consensus candidacy was disclosed after a meeting of the leaders, state Executive Council members, chairmen of Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas as well as members of the Consultative Advisory Councils, from the district, at the banquet hall of the Government House, Oke-Igbein, Abeokuta on Friday.

Chairman of the APC, Ogun State, Chief Derin Adebiyi, handed over Akinlade to the Ogun Central Senatorial District Chairman of the party, Engr. Yomi Ademefun and said “we, from Ogun Central have unanimously agreed to fully support any consensus candidate from Ogun West.” 

The Ogun Central Senatorial District Chairman of the party, Engr. Yomi Ademefun, thereafter assured the people of Ogun West of the unflinching support of his district. 

Former Minister, Ministry of Mines and Steel, Alhaji Sarafa Ishola, described  Akinlade as a man of character, with capacity to deliver and a proven record and experience in the public and private service as well as the Legislative arm of government. 

Senator Gbenga Obadara, while moving the motion for adoption of the candidate, assured that Akinlade would execute the policies and programmes of the party. 

National Financial Secretary of the APC,  Alhaji Tajudeen Bello, said the endorsement of Akinlade is in line with the party’s constitution.

Akinlade, in his response, appreciated the leadership of Ogun West for choosing him, assuring that no Senatorial District in the state will be neglected, when he assumes office.

According to him, his blue print is to complete all ongoing projects of the Senator Ibikunle Amosun administration and also develop the entire state.

Honourable Akinlade who is tax and revenue mobilization expert graduated from LASU in 1995, BlackBox Nigeria gathered is the anointed candidate of the Governor Ibikunle Amosu of Ogun State. He is the Deputy Chairman House Committee on Climate Change at the House of Representatives, Abuja and Member of the following Standing Committees: Finance, Insurance, Public Procurement, Army, Steel and FCT. Chairman Ad hoc Committee on Insurance. He is a strong believer and advocate of the Yewa Cause, a caring father and dedicated husband.

He was born on the 9th of October 1969 to the Akinlade family of Ipadilpopo Compound in Agosasa, Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State. As a young boy, Adekunle spent his early formative years travelling across the country with his father, which informed his non-tribal personality in years later.

Akinlade is currently pursuing a postgraduate degree in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution at the National Open University of Nigeria.
