Over 40 Armed Robbers Break From SARS Cell

Over 40 suspected armed robbers have escaped from the holding cell of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

BlackBox Nigeria gathered that the incident which happened in Yenagoa on Tuesday had about 40-something arrested robbery suspects break loose from the cell of the operatives of SARS, an integral part of Bayelsa State Police Command.

A Police source disclosed that the Force was not sure about the figures that escaped, only that the holding cell could only accommodate 50 suspects.

“The cell holds more than 50 suspects but it is empty, so it is difficult to give an accurate number until they check the records, but we hear that 42 criminals were being detained,” a Policeman attached to SARS reportedly said.

As at the time if filing this report, only one out of the escaped suspects have been captured by the SARS operatives as others are still on the run.
