Fast-rising Nigerian singer, Ahmed Akinbiyi popularly known as Bella Shmurda has taken a swipe at the Lagos State University after the institution urged him to return to class and earn his degree.
Last Wednesday, the ‘Rush’ crooner had boasted in a tweet that he gained prominence in his music career — after dumping school.
Replying via its official Twitter page, LASU congratulated the singer on his milestone, but encouraged him to complete his degree programme.
Happy birthday @fineboybella. Glad you have come this far pursuing your dream. Also glad @LASUOfficial
played a part in your beautiful story because Univ. dont make people rich, only incubate them to find and achieve purpose. BTW, please come back to class and earn your degree❤ https://t.co/Mn9JjDCpaN— Lagos State University (@LASUOfficial) January 28, 2022
In what may be considered a reply, Bella Shmurda on Sunday night tweeted a line from his hit track ‘Vision 2020’ which says that four years for a degree programme in the institution is “really nothing.”

4 years in @LASUOfficial is really nothing 🎶

Fans almost immediately ventured into his comment section with mixed reactions, as some berated the singer for ridiculing the importance of education.
