Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Face, has confirmed his relationship with Hon. Natasha Osawaru, a member of the Edo State House of Assembly, while refuting claims that she played a role in the breakdown of his marriage with Annie Idibia (née Macaulay).
BlackBox Nigeria (BBN) had earlier reported 2Face’s announcement of the end of his 13-year marriage with Annie. At the time, the singer revealed that they had been separated for a while and had initiated divorce proceedings, promising to provide further details later.
Speaking in a viral video, the 49-year-old ‘African Queen’ crooner addressed the swirling speculations, stating that while many have been pushing different narratives, there was no conflict in the situation.
“So many people are coming up with their different narratives, talk, and malicious nonsense. Hon. Natasha has been dragged, called different names, called a home breaker. She’s a young, brilliant, and amazing woman. She had nothing to do with what happened in our marriage,” 2Face said.
The veteran singer further emphasized his affection for Osawaru, saying, “I love her, I want to marry her.”
Earlier on Monday, 2Face caused a stir at the Edo State House of Assembly when he made an unexpected appearance at the legislative chamber. The musician was seated in the gallery when his presence reportedly threw the assembly into commotion, forcing him to bow his head. The situation was later brought under control by authorities before proceedings resumed.
Amid ongoing rumors of a romantic affair between 2Face and Hon. Osawaru, the lawmaker’s spokesperson, Eseosa Okundia, dismissed the allegations, calling them “false, baseless, and a fallacy at its peak.”
2Face’s confirmation of his new relationship comes barely a month after he announced his separation from Annie Idibia, with whom he shares two children. Their marriage had long been plagued by accusations of infidelity, with Annie publicly calling out her husband on multiple occasions.
Announcing their split, 2Face had said, “I and Annie Macaulay have been separated for a while now and have currently filed for divorce. I will grant a press release soon to tell my side of the story. Not because it is anyone’s right to know about my personal life, but because I love my people and I need them to know my innocence or offense.”
Following the announcement, the singer was spotted leaving a nightclub with an unidentified woman, further fueling speculation about his personal life.
2Face and Annie, who got married in 2012, have been one of Nigeria’s most high-profile celebrity couples, but their union was often troubled by controversy, particularly concerning the singer’s previous relationships. Before marrying Annie, 2Face had fathered children with two other women, leading to a complex family dynamic that frequently made headlines.
Despite the drama, 2Face insists that his new romance with Osawaru is genuine and should not be linked to his marital troubles.
