According to the companies, the power cut, which will occur daily between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., is necessary to allow the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to perform critical maintenance on the Omotosho-Ikeja West 330kV transmission line.
The ffected Areas Include: Agbara, Ojo, Festac, Ijora, Mushin, Orile, Apapa, Lekki, Ibeju, the Islands, Ajah, and Ajele for the EKEDC zones while Abule Egba, Ikeja, Akowonjo, Ikorodu, Shomolu, and Oshodi falls under IKEDC zones.
The transmission upgrade is aimed at improving overall grid reliability and eliminating bottlenecks.
“We regret the inconvenience this may cause our customers,” EKEDC and IKEDC said in separate statements, urging residents to plan accordingly.
The announcement has sparked concerns among Lagosians, especially small businesses and households that rely heavily on stable electricity.
Many are already expressing frustration online, questioning the timing and length of the outage.
Authorities have urged residents to remain patient, emphasizing that the work is necessary to ensure long-term power stability and better service delivery.
