In 24 Hours, 354 Nigerians Raised $15,686 For Late Police Sergeant’s Wife And Children

After only 24hours of launch, the GoFundMe account opened for late Sergeant Chukwudi Iboko has been able to achieve the set target of $15,000 and even exceeded it by $686.

According to Kayode Ogundamisi who launched the account in respect of the wife and children left behind by the late officer, a total of $15,686 has been raised by a total of 354 Nigerians who contributed to the act.

It will be recalled that late Sergeant Idoko was one of the casualty during the armed robbery attack on one of Zenith Bank’s branch in Owerri reportedly to have occured in February, 2017.

It was learnt that the officer, who was seen in the CCTV coverage was the only armed security firing back at the robbers who had raided the bank after trailing one of its customers there. He later died after sustaining gun shot wounds.

Ogundamisi opened the fund raising account to help give a face lift to the nuclear family members of the late officer who died in active service.

The initial target was set atat $15,000 but Nigerian contributors raised the final amounts $686 higher before the app closed contributions for the late officer after 24 hours it was launched and made public.
