2023: Osinbajo, Tinubu, Fayemi, others attend South-West APC leaders’ meeting in Lagos

Fearing that it may be heading to the presidential primaries with a divided house, the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called for an emergency meeting with all presidential aspirants from the region.

The meeting which commenced on Friday evening at the Lagos House, Marina was convened by the pioneer APC national chairman, Chief Bisi Akande and a former governor of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba.

Bigwigs in attendance include Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo; his erstwhile boss, former Lagos State governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila; Ekiti State governor, Kayode Fayemi and his Ondo and Ogun State counterparts, Rotimi Akeredolu and Dapo Abiodun.

Others are Osun State governor, Gboyega Oyetola; former Ogun State governor, Ibikunle Amosun; Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola; APC National Secretary, Iyiola Omisore; and the host, Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

However, other presidential aspirants from the region such as popular Pentecostal pastor, Tunde Bakare; former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole; and Senator Ajayi Boroffice were reportedly absent at the meeting.

Sources say the meeting is expected to foster unity in the South-West and reduce the number of presidential aspirants in the region which currently stands at seven. They include Tinubu, Osinbajo, Amosun, Fayemi, Bakare, Bankole and Boroffice.
