2000 trumpeters set for Badagry Agidigbo Music Festival

The 2018 annual Agidigbo Musical Festival in Badagry, Lagos State, would be spiced up with 2000 trumpeters performing, the organizers have said. Mr Dagbeyon Samuel, Chief Organiser of the event, told the Newsmen in Badagry on Wednesday that the festival, which would hold on March 2, would showcase the unique culture of the Ogu speaking people of Badagry. “The history of contemporary music and entertainment in Badagry can be traced back to the late 80s when brass band was popular and the Agidigbo music festival was celebrated to showcase that. “Agidigbo music is unique as it has its own instrument which is used to play it, and it is complemented with trumpets and side drums which makes the end product sound great. “This year’s edition is one of a kind because over 2000 trumpeters from various communities in the state would perform to make joyful noise at the event. “We implore the public to come for the festival as this would help in promoting tourism in the ancient city,” Dagbeyon Samuel
said. He advised Nigerians to always promote domestic tourism by patronizing the country’s various tourist sites. (NAN)
