18-Year-Old Housewife Allegedly Beat Stepdaughter to Death in Bauchi

The Bauchi Police Command has apprehended 18-year-old Khadija Adamu for her alleged involvement in the beating to death of her 5-year-old stepdaughter, Hafsat.

The arrest was confirmed during a press conference held at the police headquarters in the state capital on Tuesday.

The devastating incident unfolded on September 28, 2023, in the Kandahar area of the Bauchi metropolis, leaving the community in grief and disbelief.

According to the Police Spokesman, SP Ahmed Wakil, the suspect was reported by her husband, 38-year-old Abdulaziz Adamu, after she allegedly beat the young victim due to an incident involving soiled clothing.

Following the report, a swift response by a team of detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) led them to the scene of the tragedy.

The victim was rushed to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi for immediate medical attention, but tragically, the medical doctor certified her as deceased.

During interrogation, Khadija Adamu reportedly confessed to the alleged offense, and further investigations are underway to determine the full details surrounding this heartbreaking incident.
